I was about trying to book a train from Reims to Strasbourg to when I noticed that it was Reims Maison Blanche as were most of the trains. Have spent a couple of hours trying to find out how to get the 8km there and in the meantime the price has gone up buy 50% and I am no wiser. It is too far to walk and can only presume you have to take an expensive taxi as there is no mention of a bus anywhere. If anyone can help me please urgently, I would be most grateful as my searches have been most unrewarding. This train is already late in the day at the end of June, as all afternoon ones have been sold out and don't want to get there after 7 o'clock as this one was doing.
Thanks so much if for any help.
What website are you using and what is the travel date?
There are usually TER (local trains) traveling between Reims station and Champagne-Ardenne TGV station. Reims Maison Blanche is one of the intermediate stations on that TER line.
Is Reims Maison Blanche the station you wish to travel from? Closest to your hotel? Champagne-Ardenne TGV is where the TGVs running between Paris and Strasbourg call. If you can buy a ticket from that station to Strasbourg, you are good. You can always buy the connecting TER ticket when you are there as they are unreserved trains. Worst case, you can take a taxi.
I use this website: https://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/. Make sure you select Reims (FR) and not Reims (Maison Blanche).
Book the TGV from Champagne-Ardennes to Strasbourg ASAP. The Reims to Champagne-Ardennes is a regional train. Get tickets once you are in Reims. The price differential on an advance purchase for an 8 km trip is negligible. Just make sure you stick your ticket in the yellow validation machine.
My go to for all things train is The Man in Seat 61.com.
I traveled the other direction last week and came through Champagne-Ardenne (something like that), then hopped on a little regional train that seems to only run back and forth from there to Reims. I'm surprised it would be Maison Blanche, but I suspect it's construction related and assume they'll operate the same basic system (local train that runs you back and forth from downtown where you can board the longer distance train).
