Problems getting QR Code for Pass Sanitare

I've posted this as a comment on several threads but thought I would put a separate post out to see how concerned I should be. My sister and I leave Saturday to arrive on the 15th. On the 10th we both completed the application (she actually submitted an hour or so after me). She received hers back - I still have not received mine back. All the docs were the same except for the personal information. I received the acknowledgement immediately but nothing sense. I have checked spam and watched my email continuously but nothing. I have a feeling they may have sent it to an incorrect email address. On hers the docs were not attached to her original email so they are clearly typing it in.

There is an email address in the instructions for assistance and I sent an email to that address yesterday as they said not to resubmit the applications - but I have not heard anything yet. The site says the priority is people in France already or people arriving in France by the 15th but I've seen people on here with arrival dates in September that have already received theirs back.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should follow up or what I should do? I do not want to spend my vacation taking COVID tests.

There's little harm in re-submitting the application, say, tomorrow if you don't get anything today.
Otherwise, I saw on other threads that people report that their CDC cards have been accepted since the Pass Sanitaire went live in museums, cinemas... in July and in restaurants this week.
Enforcement is very random for now, I went out 4 times this week and was only asked to show something 50% of the time.

Thank you so much for responding. I guess that is the only thing to do. At this point I just feel like it went to the wrong place and I know sometimes bounce-back emails can take days to receive.

Try sending it with a different email maybe? I don’t think it would hurt to resubmit it

I actually just did that. Of course they are probably gone for the day over there now but we'll see what happens. Normally I try and still with the rules but in this case I'm getting a little desperate. As I said above, paying to have my nose swabbed every couple of days is not my idea of a vacation.

From what you wrote on another thread, it appeared that you applied via the system for French overseas citizens, rather than for foreign tourists.

Did you ever re-apply via the correct method?

Honestly from the people who are actually there it’s seems the CDC card is working just fine and being accepted at almost all the places. I’m sure it’s the media hyping the health pass but I don’t see business turning away customers who want to pay, who can prove they are vaccinated. That’s just me maybe someone else can chime in.

I have friends there now and they had a horrible time finding a restaurant on Monday (they are in Paris). I forwarded them the instructions and they were off and running Tuesday morning/early afternoon and all is well now, so yeah, there have been some issues.

Kim, thanks for asking but yes. Monday we both filled out the incorrect application but on Tuesday we did find the correct one - so this has all been done via the site designed for US tourists.

Is anyone else aware of CDC cards no being accepted? I know they have been accepting them and while I would expect that to stop at some point when the system gets running smoothly - I am hoping that is not the case quite yet. We have tickets to most major attractions and a train trip to Bordeaux.

Can I hand write my application or do I need to type the information on the application?

I printed out the form and filled it out by hand. It was accepted and I received my QR code.

I would not count on the CDC card working much longer; there is a sort of grace period but people are expected to have the QR code and that will probably tighten up. I have already read of people having their CDC cards not accepted at some venues.

@Janet - Although we hope to be in possession of QR codes by the time we leave, I was helped a bit yesterday by a message I got from SNCF, stating they they require proof with a QR code or other proof if there is no QR code. It was a brand new message from them yesterday. I posted it elsewhere on the Forum but will link it here too as I imagine it will allay fears of those of us who have applied for QR codes but have not received them yet.

Here's the exact line, in French. When I move to the English site, I can't find it:

La vérification de la validité du pass sanitaire se fera par un flashage du QR code via l’application TousAntiCovid Vérif ou par une vérification visuelle pour les justificatifs sans QR code.

Cheryl--I don't have specific advice, but my wife and I have been in France (Paris and Brittany) since July 26. Everyone asking for our proof of vaccination has been thoughtful and kind. Before we got the Pass, we had a couple servers think something was wrong, but they checked with others and treated us humanely--we were never turned down. I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes travel is about trusting the humanity of others. Our wonderful three weeks here has shown that most of the time people here have tried to help us, and it's worked out. I know that's not the exact message you want to hear, but it's what I have. I really hope your trip is as spectacular as ours has been.

Sorry...What is a CDC Card & QR Code?

And then how do you apply for a Pass Sanitare?

Posted by

The CDC card is what you're issued in the US when you get vaccinated.
A QR code is "a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone.".

All thanks so much for your responses. Day 2 so far so good. As I said earlier I applied on the 10th and no response yet although my sister got hers in less than 24 hours so I’m glad they are being somewhat generous until the system is running smoother as I’ve heard many, many stories similar to mine. I will post again if I have a problem in case someone else ends up in the same boat as me!

I am filling out my form but have questions about two sections:

What does it want for: Address (in country of residence abroad):
-Does it want my California address or my France address?

Is this a trick question? Country in which the vaccine was administered (if other than the country of
residence):
-Since I am from the U.S. and got my vaccine in the U.S. do I leave it blank?

Thanks all!

They are asking for your address in the US

I left that other one blank because that is logical -- but it feels weird doesn't it?

Well I’m on the train to Bordeaux this morning. So far we’ve been everywhere (louvre, Eiffel, seine Cruises, hop on hop off bus and many many cafes and restaurants with no problems whatsoever with the use of the CDC card. I know there was one poster that was concerned about the high speed trains and metro. The Metro accepted the CDC card and the SNCF train didn’t even ask.

I highly recommend you get the QR code if you can but if not your CDC card should work at least for a while longer until the system becomes more reliable.

Hi Cheryl -
Wonderful update - thank you for sharing how CDC card worked for train travel! Keep your updates coming if possible. I hope you are having a great trip.

We have a SCNF train to our first location upon arrival at CDG so it is good to know the CDC card works for now while we await Pass Sanitaire confirmation!

We applied for our pass sanitaire weeks ago, one received it, I just received mine this morning, after resubmission this weekend.

Friends and acquaintances here in the Cote d"Azur who are awaiting their pass sanitaire have said they've had no problem with getting their CDC card accepted, at least yet.

My boyfriend with Israeli Pfizer vaccination paper and me with my CDC card had absolutely no problem going anywhere we wanted to go last week in Provence and Paris.

I submitted my information yesterday and upon realizing that I did not have the correct information in the correct order on the subject line, I resubmitted a few minutes later. I have not received a confirmation of receipt yet for either submission. Should I worry?

maybe so but all sorts of people are reporting applying several days before the trip and they are already there without the codes while others whose trips are far off have gotten them. And concerningly some have reported a partner getting the code and not themselves and weirdly one person got a code but it was for some other tourist, not themselves. So an overwhelmed system is bound to have some kinks in it and it doesn't help that some are bombing the site with duplicate applications.

I finally did get mine 5 days into our trip but using the CDC card worked fine and we were everywhere. Metro, TGV trains, tourist sites, cafes etc. Don't know how long that will be accurate but we had no problems whatsoever. We were there 8/15 to 8/22.

I just saw this article posted on a France Facebook group. My husband and I revised our applications with the address of the hotel we'll be staying at the longest and resubmitted all of our documents this morning:

Address in country of residence abroad is where we are staying while in France? We are staying in Bayeux and Paris. Would we put both?

We're also staying in Bayeux and Paris, with our first night being in Rouen too. We'll be in Rouen for 1 night, Bayeux for 5 nights, and in Paris for 2 nights but in 2 different hotels (the last night booked with points at a Marriott near the airport for our early flight the next day).

I just used the Bayeux hotel address.

Just repeating, the ParisByMouth post is incorrect. The French language version of the form makes it clear: the address is your home company. "Pays de la residence a l'etrangere" LINK

The latest version of the English form has a similar translation: "in country of residence abroad"
LINK
The next question makes it even more clear, as it asks for the country where the shot was administered, if not in your country of residence (or leave blank). Residence in this context means where your permanently reside. You do not establish residency in the French as a visitor.

I noticed that the French website that explains the process has changed their dates again. When it first started it was applications accepted for tourists in France or arriving 15 Aug. Yesterday is was 26 Aug. Now today they only want applications if you're there or arriving 31 Aug.

We arrive 11 Sep. I waited until 16 Aug to apply and have only gotten one auto response. I did notice I'd formatted the subject line slightly wrong 110921 instead of 11-09-21.

For those who have received their passes, what email address did it come from?

Waiting for the pass sanitaire is challenging. I applied within the timeframe requested, provided the information needed, titled the email correctly and still no response. I leave Sunday. Anyone else close to departing and no pass?

The passes came from the same email for submission.

Just a reminder for people: make sure your total email is no larger than 10 Megabytes. Do not zip the files together. I'd also make sure that your passport photo does not have glare that can make the data unreadable..

@Gooster - just read your reply. When you say not to zip files together, I take that to mean do not send them in a zip folder? I scanned all my docs to one pdf file and it is under 1 MB so I assume this will be good to go.

I submitted it 10 days ago but still haven't received the Pass. Neither had I received the automated reply. I had send the passport ID page instead of the entire copy of the passport. Do you need to send the copy of the entire passport or just the passport ID page?

@GregW -- they just used to say not to zip them together in a zipped folder. I don't know if it will cause problems in one file. There is now word of a new online system, however.

@Gooster - I tried to look up any whisper of a new online system but don't see it. Can you provide any info?
Thanks,

Hi, I’m in Paris having been in Florence and the Italian Riviera
I have had no trouble with my CDC white card.
In fact I keep the original with my passport and carry a copy along with a copy of my passport. I also have my State of California record that is in a QR code - that’s a copy as well. The 3 stapled together. In Italy 🇮🇹 it was required for indoor admission but few shops adhered to that regulation most restaurants did.
Here in Paris and at Versailles you must show your card to go inside and most restaurants want it inside or out.
The pharmacies here don’t convert for non-EU patrons and give an EU green pass because the green pass is connected to a person’s national health number. The same was true, (at least fir me) in Italy too.
I’ve never been denied, all they want to see are those 2 dates of vaccination and the RX given.
There are also multiple places to get a Covid19 test. Every few blocks a pharmacy has a tent on the sidewalk for giving vaccinations snd tests.
For non- EU patients the fee is 30 euro for a rapid test. I was nervous about both of these topics and it has not been an issue at all.
Safe travels
Diana
