There are some negative aspects of flying on LaCompagnie; customers should be aware that their boast (touted in an ad this morning) that "if your plans shift, no problem. Modify your ticket with no change fees up to departure.*" is very misleading. While there may be no actual change fee, there can be a very hefty surcharge of sorts, that even their reservation agents cannot satisfactorily explain.
My husband and I have RT tickets purchased in April for a EWR-ORY itinerary later in June which cost $7372. When our plans changed and we tried to move the tickets to November (with the same itinerary), we were told there would be an additional charge of $1600, even though on the web site, tickets for November are priced at $7012. We also asked if they could instead be moved to January, and again were told we would have to pay $1600 (in addition to the $7372 already paid); on their website, the January itinerary is currently priced at $6418.
I have flown on LaCompagnie since 2014 and have appreciated many aspects of the experience, but think one should be aware that while modifying a reservation is possible and does not technically mean paying a change fee, it does means there will be a significant charge.
Thanks for the heads up. We have hitel reservatuons for late February for Paris and Strasbourg. We were looking at flying this airline for the first time, i think I will hold off on actually booking the flights till later this year when we are 100% sure our plans won’t change.
I have flown La Compagnie many times and really enjoy it. However, I don't purchase tickets that far from travel so I have no experience with changes.
Good idea....their customer is terrible/almost non-existent. If things go smoothly, it's a decent experience on LaC, but if they don't, it can be a nightmare...Check out the reviews on TripAdvisor to get an idea of what can go wrong.
