We will be traveling in September to Avignon area and would like to spend a day wine tasting/touring in Chateauneuf du Pape. My husband is the oenophile, therefore, particular about his wine tours. In the past we have gotten recommendations for wine guides from RS travel books, but I have not seen any guides mentioned. Does anyone have a recommendation for a private wine guide for the area?

A couple of years ago we did a food & wine tour in Châteauneuf du Pape with Julien from https://www.avignongourmetours.com/ He offers wine tours and private tours as well as the food & wine tours. You should be able to discuss with him any particular tastings you might want to do. I hope you enjoy your trip!

I highly recommend Olivier Hickman who has wine.uncovered.com. We worked with him with two different groups in 2022 for CNDP. We and our friends have done many wine tours in various places and we all agreed he is right at the top. If you tell him your preferences he is happy to customize. We will have him for a day out again this June.
PS he has also been recommended in RS guidebook to France

We spent a wonderful day with Mike Rijken. Our family group of 5 was picked up at our hotel early in the AM and dropped off around 6pm. Mike was informative and friendly. We visited 3 wineries and had private tastings. He is RS recommended. www.winesafari.net .
