We are a group of six adults arriving from Stockholm into CDG the second week of June around 1145. The rest of our group is more comfortable with private transport. I’m concerned about determining timing for the pick up. I understand passport control can take up to two hours. Drivers only wait up to one hour is the info I’ve seen. Anyone have any experience with scheduling a private driver and how much time you allowed before pick up time? Thanks!
When I have used our local firm when coming home, or Welcome Pickups abroad, they always have flight details and follow your arrivals. If late, they wait, but there may be an extra charge.
Others may have experience of the CDG timings.
Why would you need to go through Passport Control if you are all coming from Sweden? Both countries are part of Schengen. That shouldn't factor into your planning.
Thanks for the suggestion of Welcome Pickups, Lin C.
CJean, you are correct! We're used to returning to London with every trip as our family lives there so completely forgot about Schengen countries being a different situation. Thank you for clarifying for me!
Since you arrive a bit before noon and Bayeux is only 3 hours or so away, I would suggest arranging for your transport service to pick you up at a comfortable time well after you've arrived -- a couple of hours or so. That should still get you into Bayeux at a reasonable hour.
Then, once you've cleared the entry hurdles and are ready to leave the airport if it's still a bit early before your scheduled transport pickup time, you can stop and have a coffee or some other drink or snack and relax for a bit.
CDG is a great place to people watch. One of the better, in my view.
The usual way to deal with uncertainty is to add in buffers. With cost estimating, it's adding extra budget in your estimate to cover unanticipated costs. With cooking, it's having a few extra potatoes on hand in case one or two of them has gone bad. In your case, it's adding in a bit of extra time to give yourself peace of mind.
Thank you, Bob. I appreciate the suggestions!
look at the on time history of your flight from Sweden. When I did that for a Berlin to CDG flight I found that it was late half the time and seriously late about a third of the time. Otherwise if you only have carry on luggage and are within Schengen, you should be able to meet transport in an hour. The unknown factor is plane arrival time.
Good idea, thanks!
