Please share any experience(s) you've had using a private tour company (with a guide and driver) for a day trip from Paris to Versailles. We are planning to visit Versailles in early July this year. Any tips on selecting the right company would be appreciated.

Hi Allan, Is there is specific reason you want to hire a private tour, just for the ease of it all?
It is really easy to get to Versailles from Paris. Once there you can pre-book the Kings Private Apartment tour which is a small group guided tour of areas not seen by the public which requires an entry ticket + the ticket for the tour. You enter through a separate entrance and once the tour is over you are free to roam to Palace and gardens.
If you land up not getting any suggestion you can look on Tripadvisor there are a few that have high/good reviews.

Rick probably has some suggestions in his guidebook. I seem to recall one "trick" is to show up and have breakfast at a restaurant there and you get special access.

I can not say enough about Boutique Bike Tours! They do have a private option for their tours so you can contact them directly to set something up. We loved how they picked us up from Paris and took us on the train to pick up the bikes in town. We rode our bikes to the palace and the tour guide was very informative and personable. We picked the bikes back up and rode into the market and picked up picnic supplies to have a beautiful picnic and wine on the lawns before riding over to the Little Hamlet to conclude the trip. It was absolutely the perfect day. 10000000% recommend!
