Paris Greeters is a non-profit group of local residents who offer to show visitors Paris. It's free but will ask for a donation when you register online.
Rick covers this pretty well in his guidebook, which of course you already own ...
Yes I own plenty of RS books & have been on several tours. I assumed this forum would be a good place to get recommendations but apparently not.
We had a great experience with With Locals in Greece. We're going to try them again in Paris this summer.
We used a lady with ToursByLocals. There are many to choose from based on your interests and you can read the reviews from others.
I did a Road Scholar tour of SW France last fall and the guide was Laurent Guariglia who is Parisian. He does do private tours when he is not guiding for companies. I thought he was extremely knowledgeable and fun to tour with.

The next time I'm in Paris I hope to do this at twilight: https://2cvparistour.com/.

Corey Frye (French Frye in Paris: https://afrenchfryeinparis.com ) & April Pettit (April in Paris: https://www.aprilinparistours.com ) both are Americans who live in Paris and give great tours. You can check out their websites. Corey’s doesn’t give you much info up front but he has several tours that are reasonably priced - just fill out the inquiry form & he’ll send you tour info & pricing. April’s has more info. Either would be great choices.
We did a private tour of the Louvre with Paris Muse. It was wonderful! So intimate (just the two of us) and not having to figure out how to make our way through was terrific. The guide was an art historian so much knowledge and insight to impart.
Paris by Mouth food tours are great, too. Small groups. We did one in Saint Germaine that we enjoyed so very much.
