Private or semi-private transport recommendation from CDG Airport to Paris (Montparnasse)?

4 of us will be arriving with luggage at Charles DeGaulle Airport. Too crowded for one taxi. Would prefer a van to transport us all together directly from the airport to our hotel in Montparnasse. Private or semi-private. Would also consider a bus that drops off at hotels versus a regular city bus. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I just saw another posting about transport from a train station that mentions taxis can carry up to 7 people. Is this in a regular two-seat taxi, or is it a three-seater or van-style taxi?

Taxis carry up to 7 passengers with luggage. 4 will not be too crowded in the least.

The fare is fixed at 50€/55€ for the Right/Left Bank respectively. Do not accept offers from clandestine drivers soliciting from within the terminals. Proceed directly to the official taxi queue and give the driver a piece of paper with your destination clearly written to include the arrondissement number (or the 5 digit postal code starting with 750). Taxis will be available according to the size of your party.

Have you asked the hotel or apartment where you are staying for a recommendation? That usually works well for me.

I would say that some taxis carry up to 7 passengers not that taxis carry up to 7 passengers because every taxi does not. There are many 4-passenger taxis, what I call a regular taxi, as well as some 6-passenger and apparently 7-passenger ones as well. I have never seen a 7-passenger taxi but apparently, they exist.

Four people will fit in a regular taxi -- trust me when I tell you that my family of four fits in a regular taxi from the airport and the shortest of us is me a 6 feet tall. That being said, my husband hates when we are four in a regular taxi because he at 6' 4" does not have enough legroom up front and neither does the person in the family (me) who is unlucky enough to sit behind him and our 6' 2" son is stuck in the back with me next to his 6' 1" sister. There are minivan taxis at the airport and you may be assigned to one or request to wait for one but if there is a group that can fit only in a large taxi, the dispatcher may put them in it ahead of you. We have had two occasions when the dispatcher would not let us wait for a minivan because we are a group of four and I totally understand that. You can try contacting Shuttle Inter. We use them once or twice per year for the airport trip -- it's 65€ for 4 people so 10€ or 15€ more than a taxi, depending on the destination. Whenever, I have told them how tall/big my family is, they have sent a minivan to meet us at the airport and not charged extra but I think if you request a minivan, the trip costs 85€. Where are you staying? Often your hotel will have suggestions.

Thanks for the great suggestions and info already!

I did contact our hotel when we booked it and their only suggestion was a taxi. No hotel shuttle van, no recommended city hotel bus.

Very helpful recommendations so far -- thanks!

A taxi will be fine - hotels that offer to arrange a pick up do so at a higher price than a taxi .

From Cdg to your hotel the fare is 55 euros ( I think they can charge an extra 3 euros for the fourth person ) .

As already posted by Tocard have full address written down and I always write down the fare on the paper too , so that driver is aware that I am aware it is a set price .

There is no charge for the 4th person. The fixed fare is 55 for 4 and luggage. It is 4 Euros each for every person above 4. For 4 people a taxi is by far the most sensible way from the airport. Make sure the meter is set at 55 when you leave the airport and refuse any extra charges. It is wise to hand the driver a card with the address printed including the zip code -- perhaps write 55E on that slip.

Janet is right — the fare includes four people — it’s at five passengers and above that they start charging extra (4€ per person).

Just wait in the taxi line until they bring you a minivan cab. It’s usually not more than a few minutes after you’re at the head of the line.

We booked a shared shuttle ahead of time for three of us and got lucky that we were the only ones
