Private guides in the Louvre and Orsay

We've been to Paris twice in the last couple of years and did the Louvre and Orsay. We did use the RS audio tour, but especially in the Louvre I found it unsatisfying. We are doing the 7 days in Paris tour in October (2024) and I want to explore finding a personal guide for inside the museums, especially someone who knows art (of course!).

I'm interested in suggestions if you have used such a guide and were satisfied. Thanks!

The RS France and Paris books suggests a few local guides in Paris. On a RS tour a few years ago that went thru Paris we used a local guide in the Louvre, not the RS guide. Unfortunately I didn't write her name down. I looked up your tour and am a bit surprised they don't use a guide for the Louvre anymore, you just walk thru with the RS audio app. I bet if you call the RS office they can tell you the guides they used to use in the museum.

Paris Walks offers a small group Louvre tour, look here on this page or click on "Summer Walks" in the left-hand menu. I believe it is Friday evenings.

Then you can go to "This Month's Walks and Next" - they already have posted the schedule there for October, which you can download.

We had a terrific personal and private tour with Paris Muse a few years ago. We met her late in the day, about 4pm, as I recall, so hit the museum when it wasn’t too crazy. She promised two hours but I think it was closer to three and with a private guide, it was possible to customize a little and focus on your areas of interest, move faster or slower in some galleries, etc.

I can recommend Florent Cardinaux. He is an excellent guide. His Fb page is PariswithFlo. He is recommended by Rick Steves too. I have done a number of tours with him, including the Louvre.
