We will not have a car, but are staying in Sarlat. We have one tour booked through Orphus, but we would like to see La Roque Geac, Domme, Beynac, Rocamadour and have thought about a private driver. Help! What is a reasonable rate? what about tipping?
Or...what else to see these places without a car?

We used Philippe - his info is in the RS France book. He was a delightful character (rather Rabelaisian) and gave us a wonderful tour of the area plus got us tickets for 2 caves that we wouldn't have been able to get on our own. (I was primarily interested in visiting the caves.) I don't remember exactly how much it was - maybe 250 euros for 6 or 7 hours. Since he works for himself there was no tipping but I bought him lunch. An absolutely memorable day!!
He may aleady be booked for your date, but I can highly recommend Philippe -- http://www.allophilippetaxi.com. My husband and I booked him for 6 hours. We went to the usual sights, and to places he suggested. Beyond the usual, the day was pretty loose.
My favorite was the Maison Forte de Reignac-- http://www.maison-forte-reignac.com. It's built right into a massive cave. The website's English version didn't work for me today, but you can explore online without knowing much French. There is a good map showing other sights in the Sarlat area.
