Private Driver Avignon

Does anyone know of any private drivers in the Avignon area?

Ideally would need to get picked up in Nice, transported to Avignon and then the return transport to Nice airport.

A local driver to driver my group of 5 would be nice as well around the wineries, etc. that would charge a flat fee per day.

Thanks

Hello iobregon12, and welcome to the forum.

I’m not sure your post is entirely clear. It seems like you should be asking about drivers from the Nice area - certainly a larger pool - rather than from Avignon.
Avignon to Nice is at least 3 hours and probably more given traffic. Is this a same day request? I’m not sure what’s in Avignon that would justify 6+ hours of driving as a day trip. If you are asking about two separate trips to and from Nice - with two empty legs for the driver - the cost would be tremendous if you can find someone.

Is there some reason you’ve ruled out the train for this trip? It will take close to the same amount of time - it might faster - and will cost you a 1/10 or 1/15 as much money.

It think some clarifying details would help people understand what you are looking for.

Hope that helps,
Tod

Are you aware that it is about 163 miles from Nice to Avignon? A private driver would not be cheap, and if it is not a round trip for you, he still has to go back empty. I concur that a train would be better. If you are looking for some sightseeing along the way, I would rent a car and stop when something caught my eye. If this is a day trip where the driver waits for you and drives you back to Nice, it would still be expensive and take a good 6 hours on the road (maybe more, if there is much traffic).
If you plan on staying in Avignon, I suggest taking the train there and then taking a wine tasting tour from Avignon. The tourist authority there would have a list of options for that.
Lots of times it is a big adjustment to plan drives in France, when we think of drives in the US. I live in Southern California and we don't hesitate to drive 60-70 miles to go to a restaurant, even if it takes 60-90 minutes to get there. But I would never hire a driver, even an Uber, for that long of a drive, even if I could find one who would do that. And Nice-Avignon is a minimum 3 hour trip, one way. I'm sure you could find someone if you paid the driver enough, but this is not like a limo drive around Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
Another thought...there are local vineyards just about everywhere in France., and the Riviera is no exception. Finding a driver or a private tour in that area should be easy, and you could get a look at the countryside as well.
Just some thoughts....best of luck in your planning!

This is a long trip and will not be expensive as mentioned. But what does your itinerary look like? If it includes Paris it would be much better to add Avignon as a stop between Paris and Nice.

The train from Nice to Avignon is so easy, have you considered doing that?

iobregon12,
Just wondering if you have seen the forum responses. Can you clarify if you are looking at a one day excursion, or a transfer to Avignon by car and driver. Did you want a driver for more than one day, who would stay in Avignon overnight? Please clarify for us.
