Hi, My sister and I have a free day in Nice at the end of May. We'd love to see some of the outlying area (Antibes, Grasse, St Paul de Vence) but will not have a car. Does anyone have any recommendations for car services or private drivers? I'm a little uncomfortable with driving in that area, but would love the convenience and freedom of movement that working without bus or train schedules would allow? Thanks!
Those places are almost withing walking distance from Nice, so why not just use trains and buses? They will be pretty frequent. If that is still too complicated, just take a local taxi.
We went to those towns by bus and train.
I'd disagree that Grasse and St Paul de Vence are walking distance from Nice. Grasse is 34 km from the centre of Nice, about 45 minutes by car and 7 hours to walk. St Paul de Vence while closer (16 km) does have does have 180 metres of vertical ascent and takes over 3 and a half hours to walk.
However, bus from train works from both.
Antibes, the train goes right there very conveniently...
If you'd rather a driver and can afford it, go for it. Sorry I have nobody to recommend.
That's why I wrote almost walking distance…
Thank you all for the great ideas! There's always so much to see in too little time, but we're going to try to cover it all. Linda
