We are going on the RS Loire to the South of France tour in October. It seems like there will be no direct trains from Gare Montparnasse to Chartres due to weekend construction and alternate routes will take 3-4 hours. I would appreciate recommendations on the best private car companies to use based on your experience. Merci!

According to the SNCF website:
Due to track work, service for the first and last trains of the day is suspended Monday through Saturday until October 3, 2026. Reservations are mandatory for the replacement buses.
Apart from the first and last trains of the day from Monday to Saturday, all other trains between 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. are not affected by the track work, and the journey time remains approximately 1 hour as usual.

I saw a note re the possible train delays on my RS tour info. I am currently in the midst of planning and booking planes and hotels and thought I’d ask for private car alternatives. Thanks very much for this clarification, much appreciated!

I am also doing a tour in Oct and need to get from Paris to Chartres. Did you find a car option? Thank you.

During the weekends in October the line is closed between Montparnasse and Versailles Chantiers. So many of the direct trains to Chartres are cancelled between Paris and Versailles. I do see some trains on sunday afternoon however.
SNCF suggests you make your own way to Versailles Chantiers from where the TER trains are running. To get to that station you can take the RER C, and so depending on where in Paris you are staying you may not have more transfers to deal with then otherwise.
(You are basically just going to a different station).
Another option are the OUIGO services from Austerlitz. These take a bit longer, but are cheap, and also direct.
The best option may depend a bit on where you are staying in Paris.
When planning train trips on www.sncf-connect.com just select "Paris" origin, so the system considers all stations.
