Pre-tour dining options in Reims

Hello,
I'll be going on my first-ever Rick Steves tour at the end of June and will have one night before it starts in Reims. Thinking of making a dinner reservation at the Glue Pot (https://thegluepot.com/) based on some perusing of options (it is a Saturday night0, but wondering if others have suggestions. Would like a place that can guide me on local wines...

What a wonderful tour! We took the tour in 2023.
Arrived 3 days before tour start. One day took the train to Épernay for the champagne houses.
For dining - we ate three times at Brasserie Le Gaulois. Outdoor seating, tasty meals, excellent service. And the plat de jour was a good deal.
Our second night of the tour 8 of us tour members ate together there. New friends, beautiful setting.
Good memories.

Agree, the tour and Le Gaulois is great. We also had lunch outside at Place du Forum. There were two restaurants serving food there with food being brought out. Nice setting, but we were lucky to get a table on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We had supper the next night at Le Tablier Reims, same block as Le Gaulois, just closer towards the train station. I ordered the trout and it came bone in with a little bit of smoking kindling wood on top.

I had 2 excellent dining moments in Reims

  1. rooftop restaurant Gabrielle with an amazing view of the city and cathedral. The good was gastronomic and delicious.

  2. L'Alambic - another gastronomique treat with a bulk or the seating down in the cave/cellar. Excellent food.
