I managed to do this yesterday with my British vaccination details. I just hope that the trip itself can now happen!

Yes, folks here have been describing their success in doing this for at least a couple of weeks now. I believe Paul was the first.

It’s not guaranteed, however, and depends on the pharmacist that one encounters — some have been turned away.

Have not seen any information on doing this in Italy. I am still holding plane tickets and reservations for September 19 to October 3.
I do find it ironic that already the Vaccination rate in Italy is 65% and they are on track to reach 80% by September.
So flying from USA with a lower vaccination rate to Italy with a higher vaccinated rate and USA requirement for a test to reenter.
Actually I don't object to a preflight test except that I am paranoid about getting a false positive.

I saw a YouTube report of someone getting this done for €20 too. Personally I’m more than happy to pay €20 so I hope this keeps working

Carol,
You must have watched Jay Swanson's vlog that just posted a couple of days ago. He is an expat who has lived in Paris for 4+ years, but was vaccinated in the US early in the year when visiting his father. He went to 11 or 12 pharmacies and was denied at every one until he heard about the one near Opera who was offering the service for 20 euros. I am really curious if this is being done "above board" and now that he's published it on YouTube, we should find out soon.

Jennifer, did you manage that from the UK?

I follow another American expat who lives somewhere in France (oui in france) and she was NOT able to get her US CDC card put into the system in at least 2 pharmacies in her town last weekend.

This seems to be a totally unorthodox, arbitrary workaround that does not treat every requestor uniformly. People have to "shop around" or "pay to play" ? Give me a break, this is a joke. There is a need for a uniform and fair policy, not this haphazard approach that uses pharmacists as some kind of admin clerks who dole out favors to the most persistent.

There's another expat YouTube vlogger named Nathaniel Drew who did a video along with Jay Swanson where they discussed the challenges of being an American expat in France. It was a theme throughout that everything they try to do is a lesson in endurance, patience and persistence. Getting a bank account, extending a visa, etc... every rule is implemented unevenly and may change from one day to the next and depending on who you ask. I don't know why anyone would think this would be any different.

The “flyer talk” article is a bit alarming and some things not true. Yes some pharmacies will give you a QR code that can be downloaded into the app mentioned. However the alarmist part is that people are needing a test every few days at a cost. Not true. Most museums here in Paris allow entry with the CDC card and it’s expected that restaurants will do the same come August 1. Parisians will begin their vacations on that day and the restaurants that remain open will want our business.

The two key problems here are "most museums" and "it's expected"

The problem is that you don't know if today's the day the museum or attraction you want to go to will say "NO" to CDC card. And of course we honestly have no idea how cafes/restaurants will do. While they may want our business they also don't want a large fine!
