Possible Future CDG Works

For those who really like to plan ahead, the folks who run CDG have put forth some improvement ideas. Nothing would start until the '30s, and construction could last to the '50s. Just opened for the "public comments" phase, so still a long way to go before shovel hits dirt. Sorry, all I could find was in French...

I'm curious: where are you from? Dana Point is in California, isn't it?

I ask because your choice of words is interesting.

So? Many current RS devotees will be too elderly to travel or passed on to the other side. CDG has never been my favorite airport but I’ve had no real horror stories there since 1985.

Yes, it's in California, which is where I am from

So?

Some folks, like me, might find airport infrastructure interesting. If that's not you, plenty of other threads to comment on.

If it is still possible for me to continue traveling to Europe in 2030, it's a given I'll be back in CDG.

Hopefully . I'll be a witness to the changes being undertaken in CDG at that time. Compared to the old CDG re: Terminal 2 I saw in 2015, seeing it last summer for the first time in 10 years was totally new...delightful after getting adjusted to it

While CDG is not my absolute favourite airport in Europe, I much prefer it to some others...obviously. Flying non-stop from SFO to the continent, it's a choice between CDG or FRA

No, no -- that's not it.

You used the plural "works" in your title. That's not common American usage. It's more Canadian and British and, actually, French (travaux) usage. It caught my eye because where I worked in France the French and Canadian scientists were constantly referring to "works" in cases where an American would use work. Things like "field works" instead of "field work."

Your usage caught my attention, which is why I asked my question. It's odd to see an American use the plural "works."

For me, I am most looking forward to the completion of CDG Express, to have a dedicated, much faster train to the airport. They are now targeting beginning 2027 for opening (they obviously missed their deadline for opening for the Olympic Games !).

Bob, this comment...

"Some folks, like me, might find airport infrastructure interesting. If

...was not addressed to you. Sorry for the confusion. This was for the poster who seemed to be questioning why on earth I would even post such a thing, as apparently most folks here would be dead or too old to travel. ¯\(ツ)/¯

BTW, interesting point by you on the language. I have no idea why I use 'works' instead of 'work', other than it sounds right to me :-) And, have never been fortunate enough to live outside the US....yet.

Interesting.

This post works for me. Oh. I meant it work for me.

(I dropped the "s" because I am not from California...I think.)

Happy Travel.(s)

How interesting, Bob.
David, as intelligent as your contributions are, it’s a red pen for you, noun vs. verb third person singular.
