I went online to buy tickets for the King's Apartments tour at Versailles for Sept. 7th at 9:30am. Website only allowed a single ticket purchase so I thought, "fine, I'll just go back and order a 2nd single ticket." Apparently there had only been 1 ticket left & I bought it. So now there are 2 of us but only 1 ticket. Does anyone know if there is any possibility of finding someone with an extra ticket or extras being available on the day? I know I can't get this one refunded & 7€ isn't going to break my travel budget if we can't use it, but we'd really like to take the tour. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Anything is possible but it is not likely that anyone will be selling extra/unused tickets. It's not like it's a sporting event and scalpers will be around and how would you know if someone had extra tickets. Going up to everyone and asking would be odd. You should just go ahead and buy two tickets for a day and that you and your companion can do or try your luck at convincing the people at Versailles to sell one additional person a ticket for your tour. You could get lucky and there could be a no-show so they will sell you a ticket. People with tickets arrive late all the time and miss their tour so their bad luck could be your good luck.
Our date is set so I can't pick a different day. I did email the Versailles "contact us" address & explained the situation. Maybe I'll get lucky & they'll sell me another ticket or refund my purchase. We are planning to show up as if there will be no-shows...keeping our fingers crossed.
Lesson learned: if you can only buy 1 ticket, there's probably only 1 left...
It's a nice tour. I would go and hope someone has an extra ticket, or if you politely ask, they will sell you another one at the door.
If not, and you expect you will be in Paris again, try again another time.
Don't waste ticket , toss a coin and one of you goes on , then meet in main palace later !
Seriously doubt the staff at Versailles will refund or sell you another ticket , that is not how things go there , rules are rules etc . They see thousands of tourists every single day and have heard all the sob stories , they are pretty well immune !
I would just go on the day of your tour and ask if they can add one more. If not, then you just get in the regular line and wait and do the normal day. Go EARLY so you have options either way. We took it and LOVED it, you see so much that is not accessible any other way. The groups are small but I really do not think adding one more person would be a huge inconvenience to them or maybe you show up and another party does not, you never know unless you try! And yes, lesson learned if can only buy one ticket, there is just one ticket left.
