Please recommend a hotel near Notre Dame......

Hubby says he wants to go back to Paris just us........ we stayed in the 7th the last time. When he asked where I wanted to stay this time, Notre Dame popped into my head.

We probably would have about $300 US per night to spend. Would love to hear your recommendations.

If you look thru the France forum you'll find quite a few hotels recommended on Ile St Louis and in the Latin Quarter area relatively close to the Seine.

I have always wanted to stay at the Hotel Hospital Hotel Dieu. You can't get any closer to Notre Dame .... it is right at Notre Dame, facing onto the square in front of the church. Such a historic building with a beautiful Italian Garden in its centre. I think the rooms are probably not enormous but what the hey,

We like Henri IV Rive Gauche which is quite close to Notre Dame on the left bank and around the corner from Shakespeare and Co. Lovely little boutique hotel. I imagine the Hospital Dieu rooms if they still rent them are like college dorm rooms; they were designed for relatives of patients who wanted to stay near their hospitalized relatives and you used to access them through the ER. There was talk a few years ago of them closing but don't know what the status is now. Haven't tried it although like you, thought about it.

Another possibility is staying on Ile Saint Louis. Very well located. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge and you'll be at Notre Dame. Or cross the river and you will be in the Marais and if you cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter.

We've stayed at Hotel des Deux-Iles and were quite pleased. It's quiet with friendly and helpful front desk personnel and the Metro is near enough that getting anywhere is not a problem.

We emailed them with a request for rates, booking, and got a reply within 24 hours. They have a sister hotel several doors away named Hotel de Lutece. We would stay there based simply on our experience at Hotel des Deux-Iles.

Another hotel on the island is Hôtel Saint-Louis en l´Isle. They might have a dedicated shuttle that will pick you up at the airport. I'm not sure what it cost but with taxis into the city from the airport now charging a flat rate either one may be ok.

Do some googling and see what you think.

If you want a view of a Notre Dame and to be right there, take a look at https://hotelnotredameparis.com/. Fair warning: it is designed by Christian Lacroix and the style is not what I would call restrained, but it is a very romantic hotel and should be in budget.

Hôtel des Deux-Iles
59 Rue Saint-Louis-en-I'Ile Paris

Located on Iles St. Louis. I found this to be a great central location.

Pros: Quite area- my room overlooked the street but I never heard any noise, several places to eat nearby, mini market down the block, close to a metro-Pont-Marie (line 7- 4 minute walk), non- smoking property, remodeled bathrooms, helpful front desk.
I stayed in November in a single room, for $135 a night.

This was my first visit to Paris and I found this to be a perfect location. I was able to walk quickly to Notre Dame and Sainte Chappelle, the Marais, and the Latin Quarter. Used the subway to get to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre and the Musee de L'Orangerie.

I would strongly encourage you to pay careful attention to the room photos and location of the Hotel Notre Dame on 1, Quai Saint Michel. My husband really wanted to do it and so we did. And would not again. The location is quite, um, tourist laden and while the room did in fact have a spectacular view of Notre Dame, that really didn't make up for its shortcomings. You may feel differently, but caveat emptor.

Kate’s post reminded of a possible issue with Hotel Notre Dame which is that you need to climb stairs to get to reception. Of course, you are in tourist central if you stay there — I hope that would not come as a surprise when you are drop dead center on Notre Dame.

We are staying at Hotel Diana which is very reasonable and has been recommended to us by a few people!
