Please help me decide where to go.

My husband and brother-in-law would love to see part of the Tour de France next summer (July). Of course the route map isn't available yet, but it looks like it goes through the mountains in the South East basically every year or close by. We don't have to stay right on the route as we will have a car and can take a few days to see it, but kind of close. Here is my big question what town would you stay in for 2 weeks; VRBO type house that sleeps at least 8 (friends will be coming & going); can be a small town but close to things to do and transportation; not stupid expensive. So far have looked at Annecy and a few tiny towns in the south by Avignon.

We have been in Paris. Love it but way too expensive for this length of time and friends are driving up from Portugal to meet us. Please help. I am in over my head. TIA

Note that the start of the Tour de France 2025 will be on July 5 in Lille. On July 8 the stage will start from Amiens

There are rumors to be taken with a grain of salt saying that (two?) following stages would take place in Normandy or Brittany

In any case, Amaury sport organization will publish the official itinerary on Tuesday October 29.

So wait for this date and be careful when choosing your accommodation. Being directly on the Tour de France route may mean that you will be unable to move by car due to road closures.

crazyNavtlife,
When you decide on a general location and dates, I would check for a rental at gites-de-france. We found a great 4 bedroom, 3 bath home in the Dordogne last year. They have many options all over France. Better than AirBandB or VRBO in my opinion. Check them out for rentals. We have used them several times and have always been pleased with our rentals, whether a chambre d'hote for one night or a house for 2 weeks.
