Please assist: Transfer from Gevena Airport to Chamonix

My husband and I will be 10 days in Italy then fly from Venice to Geneva and then plan to take transport to Chamonix. What is the best and most cost effective way to get there? Any suggestions on what bus / transfer / train service to use? We will arrive in Gevena at 17:15pm. Please help. Thanks in advance

It appears that a bus will be faster than the train. I think Ouibus is your best bet, given your late-afternoon arrival time.

There's an 8:02 PM train departure from the airport, but it requires two changes, and the trip is half on a bus anyway.

ChamExpress.com and Chamonix-transfer.com are two also-recommended options. That train line has been under construction for years, hence the lack of a direct connection.

Another vote for Ouibus. I use them to get from Lyon Airport to Grenoble with no issues. The buses are modern, comfortable, and on time.

I believe you can use a company called Mountain Dropoffs for this trip. Smaller minivan type transport usually taking climbers and walkers in to the Chamonix area. They are the people we used when we did a similar trip to the start of the Tour De Mont Blanc, dropping off in our case at Les Houches a little further down the valley from Chamonix. Search and book online!

Natalie,

My daughter and I took the chamexpress shuttle from Geneva to our hotel in Chamonix last year. The driver was friendly and helpful.
You’ll need to book your transfer in advance.
Once you arrive to Geneva’s airport, follow the directions given to you by Chamexpress.
We were expecting an office but all you’ll find is a small portable counter that looks like this.

The Chamexpress driver recommended a couple of good places to eat in Chamonix. If you’re interested please let me know.

Enjoy beautiful Chamonix!
