Planning a trip to France around leGolf Ryder Cup

Hi,
Any ideas about places that are must sees in France. We have been to France many years ago in July. We saw many of the popular sites in Paris including Versailles. This time we will arrive in Paris on Sept.22. We are planning to take a train to Rennes on Saturday Sept. 22 and then rent a car. We have already booked a non-refundable hotel I believe on the island where Saint Michele, that castle is for Sunday Sept. 23. We'll have a car, so we'd like to also see the beaches of Normandy, while we are around that area. After the Normandy area, we are planning to head back down to Paris for the Ryder Cup, just outside of Paris at le Golf National golf course. We have bought tickets for two days of the Ryder Cup Thursday and Friday Sept. 27 and Sept. 28.
We have train/metro transportation tickets for the duration of the Ryder Cup. Even though we are only going to the Ryder Cup for two days, it is our understanding we can use these tickets around Paris. After the Ryder Cup, on Saturday Sept. 29, we'd like to head southeast by train and then rent a car again somewhere near Bordeaux, not sure about the spelling. We have hotel reservations and are planning to stay at the winery on the property. there for one night. We'd like to continue south down to the French Riveria, possibly to the town of Nice. No definite plans! We are planning to be home again in the United States on Monday Oct. 8.
We'd welcome any ideas-
Thanks in advance-
Karla
