We are planning a trip to France for last part of September or first part of October.
I found air fare on Aer Lingus (recommended by a friend), that is substantially less than Delta who I usually use. Unfortunately, the flight from Seattle gets to Paris at 9pm.
Is there a hotel at the CDG that is nice but not expensive and easy access and will we be able to have easy access to a train station to head to Bayeux for our first stay?
If you're going to Bayeux to see the tapestry be advised the museum will close 1 Sep. for at least two years. If you just plan to use it as a base for touring the local area you should be okay.
You have good advice. Separately, be aware that it is necessary to change train STATIONS in downtown Paris, when going from CDG to Bayeux. There are RER/Metro options, not just long-distance SNCF trains. I've never spent the night at CDG, but most on-airport hotels are more expensive than off-airport hotels.
There are a tiny number of options from CDG without downtown Paris, but they take longer than RER/Metro to Saint Lazare.
This newsboard often recommends that people with early flights from CDG simply ask their hotel to pre-order a taxi from downtown at the appropriate time. I mention this because you might benefit from a taxi to a hotel near Paris Saint Lazare Station, even though you are sleepy getting off the plane.
This also suggests that you need to do some more basic research before your trip.
I stayed at the often recommended Novotel Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport 3 weeks ago. A nice room with king bed and breakfast included was about €164 for 1 person with the flex rate. It is located right at the airport about a 2 minute walk from the RER station.
