Planning a days drive -Visiting Luberon in July

Hello,
As part of my trip this July, I will be driving from Avignon to Cassis on a Sunday. I'd like to take a longer route and visit some of the villages in Luberon. I have the whole day to stop and visit various villages along the way. Short walks or hikes would be nice. I'd love see great views of the lavender, it will be at its peak, I believe. I've been reading lots of guidebooks but I'm having difficulty choosing. I want to see it all. :) Pas possible! Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I wrote a Luberon trip report last year which you might find helpful:

For lavender, your best bet is the Claparèdes plateau along D232. There is also a famous patch in front of Sénanque abbey north of Gordes but that is very busy in season, so I do not necessarily recommend it.

A possible route could be Avignon - Goult for a quick stop if you'd like - Roussillon - Saignon - D232 lavender - Lourmarin - Ansouis if there is still time - Cassis. I've purposefully omitted Gordes which I find too busy - Roussillon is also very busy but is uniquely colorful.

But there are many options.

Thank you! That's very helpful! I had Gordes on my list but I did have concerns about it being very crowded that time of year. (Like most places) So that is good to know.
