Places to stay near De Gaulle airport

Does anyone have a good choice for a one night stay, near De Gaulle Airport in Paris.
We are flying out the next day, would need an airport shuttle, but would like a nice stay that evening. Maybe somewhere we could walk around that night before?

I would stay AT not near the airport. Those shuttles are sometimes full or unreliable. It is nice to be able to get up have breakfast and get on the intro airport transport and be at the gate in 10 minutes rather than have to stress about getting to the airport. We have stayed at the Novotel and then taken the RER (station right there) into Paris for the evening and for dinner and then returned late that evening to the airport.

I have stayed at the Ibis CDG terminal 1, because i had a very early flight the next day.
It was fine, clean, small room and reasonnably priced.

I, too, have stayed at the Ibis and it is fine. Much depends on what time your flight leaves, but staying in Paris for one last night would be a great temptation. I think the metro starts at 5:00am or take a cab .... Not too much traffic early in the morning.

The benefit of staying AT the airport the night before is you gain about an hour of sleep in the morning which is a huge value to me. AS noted above, you can spend the afternoon and evening in Paris and then return to the airport late that evening by RER and have the advantage of being where you need to be in the morning.

Janet is right. I hadn't thought of that.

I stayed at the CDG Hilton the night before my flight because I just didn't want the hassle on my flight day and it was fine. It's very large, many flight crews stay there, the restaurant is pricey but good. Breakfast is rather enormous (and they have things like bangers and beans because of British travelers). You walk outside, get on the little shuttle tram train and it takes you to your terminal. And the RER terminal is right there as well.

Wanted to stay late in Paris and then train out to CDG to the Hilton, but timing-wise it didn't work out.

I stayed at hotel citizenM near CDG 3 one night last fall. It is new, very modern and fun. It is a few minutes walk from terminal 3 and the shuttle. There is an outdoor patio area, free paperback books, a restaurant, and views of the airport from some rooms.

We stayed at the Hilton once and arrived too late to go into Paris for dinner and so ate at the hotel. It was not only pricey but the staff were incredibly rude and the food was the worst I have ever had on any international trip. I am not a picky eater but this food was dried out, overcooked and barely edible --- and very pricey on top of that. I would never eat at this place again or stay there although the room was fine. I'd eat at one of the restaurant terminals before chancing a Hilton meal again.

We've stayed at numerous hotels at CDG, from Ibis Budget (Etape) to Sheraton. If you stay in Roissy Village (an area with only airport hotels), you can eat at one of the restaurants in the village of Roissy-en-France (the original village that existed before the airport was built). The restaurants and bistro in Roissy-en-France were just ok, but we haven't eaten there in three or four years. You get there behind the Roissy-en-France tourist info office, which faces all the hotels. As for the hotel restaurants: it's corporate food, some better than others. We've had good luck with the Novotel Hotel's restaurant, but the menu doesn't change much from year to year.

Janet's right about the shuttle from the outlying hotels being stressful if it's full and you can't get on right away. But it's calmer and easier after 10 a.m., in case you have a later flight. The hotels at Terminal 3 are more convenient because you avoid the shuttle bus. The Sheraton is the most convenient, being inside terminal 2. So, it just depends on how many amenities you want, how big a room, and how much you'll spend.

Last October we stayed at the Ibis Budget CDG Nord 2 in Roissy - one night on arrival, and again 3 weeks later before our flight home. It was significantly cheaper than the hotels at the airport and was fine for us. The shuttle comes by about every 20 minutes, and it took us about 35 minutes to get to our hotel. The room was small but adequate, beds quite comfortable, and breakfast was fine. We ate one night at the Courtepaille Grill and the other at the Hippopotamus; not fabulous gourmet meals but quite tasty. I'd be happy to stay there again in similar circumstances. This trip was with my 87yo mother, who alas had NO interest in Paris.
