what cities in Alsace have you already planned to go to?
Hi,
I have already planned to go to Strasbourg and Colmar
The small towns and villages do it up very nicely. Google "Noel en Alsace" for places and dates. They are closer to Colmar and there is local bus service.
Riquewihr and Kayserberg would be at the top of my list.
Thanks. Any good vineyards or wineries that you guys recommend?
Adrian, if you follow the Route des Vins d'Alsace, it links up the wine villages, running through vineyards most of the way. In most villages there are wineries you can stop at and taste and buy. Look for signs "Dégustation" or "vente des Vins".
You will need a car for this, and in December the vines will be bare.
The places Judy mentions (Riquewihr and Kayserberg) are on the Route des Vins.
Hi,
Sorry. Slightly changing the topic.
Do you have any recommended Gastronomic Restaurant that I should definitely try in Strasbourg?
Because I have thought about going to Fink Stuebel for lunch, but I haven't decided what to eat for dinner.
Thanks,
Adrian
Two restaurants I thoroughly enjoyed were Au Port du Corbeau - for the Choucroute Garni - and Porcus for its excellent sausages and knacks, as well as a wonderful Choucroute Garni. Porcus is small, only open for lunch, and you should definitely make reservations if you decide to dine there. Don't be fooled when you arrive at Porcus because the dining room is one floor up from their market on ground level.
We ate at Meiselocker 39 rue des Frères 67000 Strasbourg

They recommend a reservation as we showed up and had to wait awhile.
Do a day trip from Strasbourg to Obernai, a lovely and quaint place off the American tourist radar....easy by train.
We had a very good meals at 1741 and Esprit Terroir in Strasbourg last year. One Michelin star each. As a foodie, I start with the Michelin red guide and check them out through TripAdvisor.
Thanks guys, I heard that there is a restaurant called Au Crocodile, is that good?
Comparing 1741, Esprit Terroir and Au Crocodile, which restaurant is better if I am looking for good food, good service and good atmosphere?
