Place to stay in Toulouse

Hello,
Solo female traveler here looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days in Toulouse. I’ll be getting around with buses, trains etc. Any suggestions?

Merci beaucoup!

In Toulouse the historic center is located around the "Place du Capitole" here:

There are a few hotels (4 or 5 stars, so not the cheapest) around this square.

Everything within 400 meters of this square is well located. You won't need to take the metro or bus for most of your travels and visits (except for the airport or possibly the train station) and you will find dozens of restaurants of all categories

Avoid the immediate surroundings of the Matabiau train station which is not interesting as usual near the train stations.

Toulouse is a city with many universities and young students, so it can be very lively in the evening. If you need to stay in a quiet place avoid the area indicated below (the banks of the Garonne river) where lots of people meet in bars open late at night:

Obviously if you are looking for entertainment do not hesitate to go there.

A quiet area is the "Antiquaires" district, it is a bourgeois district with private mansions and high-end boutiques. Many antique dealers are also located in the area. For example, the "Hotel Croix Baragnon" is a small and nice hotel located in this district.

Last September I stayed at the Residence Inn Toulouse-Blagnac, which is just a few minutes from the airport. It's basically a hotel for business travelers, with s good local store, a fresh vegetable and fruit stand, and several very basic restaurants right there, as well as the one in the hotel. I liked the location as it was walking distance to Airbus, which is why they get a lot of traffic during the week. The local tram station is less than 100 meters away, and it costs about 1 euro per ride (buy tickets in 10 ride blocks or as singles). It's a 10 minute ride into town, and I liked this because I could get off at multiple locations and the layout is fairly easy to learn and use to get around the city. I also liked that I could easily park my rental car the two days I used one. One downside is that it's very quiet on the weekends, especially Sunday, so you either hit the stores ahead of time or go into town for a meal.

If the Residence Inn can be possibly convenient for someone who is on a business trip to Toulouse for a few days and who is not coming to visit Toulouse, it is only a suburban residence without charm located in the middle of industrial and commercial areas.
The worst place for sightseeing and explore the city.

I do not see the point of talking about it

Pardon, JoLui. I wonder how I ever got to see anything of the city. Of course i also saw places not on the usual tourist list; the Musée aeroscopia, the Hôpital La Grave, Les Abattoirs, the Hippodrome, the Roman amphitheater of Purpan, the Roman Baths, the Les Jardins de l'Olympe, none of which are in the old city center, and all of which were quite easy to reach with public transport from my quiet, residential, hotel. It also served as my base for trips to the Dordogne and Andorra, and parking was free and easy, something I could not find in the historic old town.

The Hotel Albert 1er is a wonderful boutique hotel in the center. We spent 3 nights there a few years ago and loved it !
Enjoy !
