Picnic Spot - Mont St Michel

Hi,
We are planning to have a picnic after our morning visit to MSM...before heading to Saint Malo. Is there a particular spot that someone can recommend that offers great views of MSM?

Thanks,
Ryan

You can always look for a spot along the walking trails over the dykes at the southside of the bay with nice views of Le Mont-Saint-Michel. Think you can find quiet spots just at the westside of the ‘Barrage’, but be careful with walking outside the dykes regarding the tide. I enjoyed a few years ago the panoramic view over the bay, with the island at the horizon in the park near the ‘mairie’ of Roz-sur-Couesnon, to my opinion a good picnic spot there too. The viewpoint is signposted on the way (D797) to Saint-Malo.

Thanks Will. I will look into Roz-sur-Couesnon. We have read about scenic picnic spots overlooking MSM and fields with sheep.

Hi,

I stayed a few years ago in Bas Courtils and there were sheeps on the fields just outside the dykes with Le Mont-Saint-Michel prominent at the background, the view is really lovely and must be what you have read about. On the way to the island along the D288 and D75 there are several places for parking your car. As the fields outside the dykes are part of the tidal area best is having advise how far you can walk into it.

From the hilltop viewpoint in Roz-sur-Couesnon you can oversee the bay and the flatlands, nevertheless the view is fantastic Le Mont-Saint-Michel is a rather tiny spot at the horizon compared to that in Bas Courtils, didn't see sheep there either :) .
