Hi, I am arriving at CDG on Saturday at noon. I wanted to see how feasible it is to go to the RER ticket location in CDG (I'm arriving at Terminal 2G) and pick up a Navigo card, then go to pick up a rental car (in Terminal 2F). Or the easiest scenario to to do this. If I go into the RER area will I be able to get back into the terminal to go to the rental car location, etc. I will also have checked back to pick up at baggage claim. I've looked at the easycdg terminal maps, but i just want to be sure on the best way to pick up the Navigo card while I'm at CDG. Thanks
Just curious why you need a car and a Navigo pass?!
(I'm nosy.)
Good question. Picking up a rental car to go to Normandy for a few days, but will be taking a train from Rennes back into Paris for a week and wanted to go ahead and get the Navigo card early when I get there so I won't have to worry about it when I get back into Paris or if it sells out in any particular location. I've got my photos and pen ready.
Won't the weekly pass expire or lose most of its value while you are in Normandy?
You can only get them (not the plastic thing but the value) a few days before they start at the beginning of the week... Can't you get your pass when you get back? I've never heard of them selling out....
I will be in Paris the majority of the week. I'm mostly concerned with the logistics in the airport. Getting from the Terminal to the RER ticket location and then to the car rental location.
You can buy the kit when you arrive; put it together, then just activate it when you are ready to use it.
I would think you can do that at a machine (or a manned kiosk) in any RER station?
Getting the Navigo only takes a few minutes if you already have your photos. We took the train to Bayeux and got our Navigos when we got back to Paris. No need to get them early...make life easy for yourself :)
But to answer your question about the airport layout -- RER is in Terminal 2. In addition, there's a free shuttle train (CDGVAL) between the terminals.
