From the Perpignan train station, is it walkable into the city-center? Are there buses from train station to
city center. We also want to go to Ceret from Perpignan if bus schedule times permit since we will be staying
in Collioure for 5 days. Unfortunately, we will not have a car at our disposal but rather will be using public
transportation. Thank you for all your suggestions!
I had to check Google Maps because I couldn't dredge Perpignan's city layout up out of my memory. It appears that the train station is a bit over 1 km. from the old town, or less than a mile. There is bus service; the Google map shows little bus icons along the street that would be the obvious route.
Note that the top sight in town is probably the Palace of the Kings of Mallorca, which is perhaps 0.5 km. outside the old town (not in the same direction as the train station). I have a vague recollection of doing a fair amount of walking in Perpignan. I imagine it was memorable partly because it was quite hot, but I think I also encountered some hilliness. I like to walk a lot, so I didn't investigate bus options.
