Paying French hospital bill online

Has anyone recently received a French hospital bill and attempted to pay it online at payfip.gouv.fr?
Husband received stitches in Bayeux in September and bill was a whopping 68€! Cannot decipher the reference number they want from the bill. Nothing seems to work. This is the last piece of the puzzle! Thank you for any assistance!

I assume that was an ironic statement, as 68€ is a bargain for stitches.

As for how to pay, I am afraid I have no idea. On the few occasions when we have needed dental or medical assistance in Europe, we paid the small fee on-site before leaving.

Yes. It was a bargain! We tried to pay as we checked out but they told us we don’t know how much to charge you! They said come back tomorrow and we will have it figured out! Or, they will just mail you a bill!

I don't have any experience with French hospital bills, but Spanish speeding tickets can only be paid by changing your computer's time zone to CET. Worth a try?

We received a French hospital bill for an ER visit and there was a QR code on it that took us directly to the option to pay online. Perhaps your bill has something similar on it?

Thank you. I see it now on the bill! I have to report that I WAS successful in paying online after much trial and error! Once all numbers were in place, the correct name popped up and everything went smoothly. Thank you to everyone for their suggestions!!

Yes. Wound has healed nicely. As stitches were not the dissolvable type, the MD told us we would need to “call a nurse” to remove stitches in about 10 days. We weren’t sure what that meant but apparently there is a service that will come to you.

We were moving onto Italy from France and after consulting YouTube and relatives who are registered nurses, we bought a sterile suture removal kit at the pharmacy, plus steri strips. I removed the stitches myself! The procedure went very well following all protocols!

Husband visited his regular doctor here in US when we returned to make sure everything was good!! Thank you for your concern!

You can contact a nurse, I use doctolib.fr, to come to your apartment or hotel and administer shots, dress bandages, or apparently remove stitches.

The cost is approximately 30€ in Paris.

I recently visited an ER in Salzburg and they charged our card on the spot, FWIW. More than yours but they provided a whole lot of service for a reasonable price, unless another bill shows up one day.
