Pastry or Pastry and Chocolate tours in Paris

Reading the reviews of a variety of these tours, I see a lot of comments about the expense versus the amount of "tastes" (or size of tastes), as well as some tours that went over time walking but with few stops. Just curious to see if there is anyone that would highly recommend a particular tour of just pastries (preferred), or pastries and chocolate.

I took the Paris Walks chocolate tour several years ago with Iris. She developed the tour and is delightful. The tour included visits to 4 of Paris's boutique chocolatiers, among Iris's favorites (she rotates among them). These are top quality and need to be savored, so though they are small, I felt it was ample. The price was on a par with other small group tours. If you are iterested in the history of chocolate, it's well worth the time and money. It's only given once or twice a month and Iris doesn't always lead the tour. The tour isn't just about chocolate, you walk through some of the oldest areas of the city and learn about them as well.

On a subsequent visit to Paris, I put together my own "chocolate crawl" through the Rive Gauche (you can do the same for the Rive Droit - there are top chocolatiers in both). If the shop isn't crowded the staff will be happy to talk to you about their products. You can buy a piece or two - no free tastings.
