Passport expiring in 12 months, Delta saying I need a VISA

We are leaving with our family of four tomorrow. Just checking in with Delta, they are saying my son who's passport expires in August of 2023 needs a VISA??? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, missing a great deal of information.
Country of citizenship
Destination Country

Sometimes online checkin comes with glitches. If you have more than 6 months left on passport and are going as a tourist to a country that does not require tourist visas, you are probably ok and can get things worked out at airport checkin.

Flying from US to FRANCE. I was hoping it was just a glitch.

Unless your son is planning to work in France or to stay for more than 90 days, I’d say it’s a mistake. Try to get in contact with Delta tonight. Have a good trip.

Did you enter the passport information correctly? How long is your son scheduled to be in France? Did you enter the return date correctly?

All of you are the best! I thought it might be an error. The night before traveling it had be a bit anxious!! I already knew it could not expire in the next 6 months, but since it's a year away, I knew it was probably wrong! Thank you, thank you!

US passports must be valid for a period of 3 months after the intended return date, which may or may not be 6 months.

If your son is a US citizen, as you have already stated, and he is only visiting France, his passport is complete as it is. There is some error or misunderstanding on Delta's part which you should be able to correct at the airport.
