Passé Navigo from CDG to hotel?

I'm very excited to be visiting Paris for the first time next week! I'm researching transportation and am thinking the Passé Navigo is a good idea for us. We'll be in Paris from Monday to Saturday, and we plan taking a trip to Versailles. Rick's Paris guide suggests that we take the RoissyBus from the airport to the Opera Metro stop to get into the city, then switch to the metro to travel closer to our hotel. But I'm a little confused--Does the Passe Navigo cover RoissyBus? Can we buy the passes at the airport? Thanks for your help!!

Yes it covers the Roissybus. You just have to tap it on the validation box when you get on.

You can buy the Navigo passes at the ticket window at the RER station at CDG. Have your photos and a pen handy.

The Navigo Decouvert pass is the best thing ever.
However, if you arriving at CDG on the Monday morning, be aware that as Monday is the start day of the week long pass, there are a lot of people lining up at the automatic machines to activate and reactivate their passes, and there may be a huge lineup.
Last time I arrived there I waited nearly an hour in a very long lineup to reactivate my pass from the previous trip.
Go to the bathroom, get coffee, whatever you need to do; before joining the lineup!
The good thing was that there was a transport employee at the bank of machines helping everyone .
And bring your photos from home.

Great tip! Does anyone know if the pass is available electronically? I saw something about that on the Navigo website but can't figure out how to access an English version of that portion of the site.

Not electronically. I remember reading about the card reader that you can get to set up an account to recharge your card. I can't remember why it would not work for us outside of Paris/France.

Getting it was an easy process at CDG. I just headed down to the main RER station in Terminal 2, stood in line & asked for the Navigo Decouverte, I also had a print out of the item from Paris by Train just in case. I used my credit card to purchase 2 cards plus the weekly rate, the sales woman handed me the kit and that was it. I put it together off to the side. For the photo I just scanned our Passport photo & downsized it to their dimensions & printed it up on regular printer paper. Next year I plan on recharging it once I arrive at CDG & head into Paris on the RER-B.

Enjoy your trip.

I just cutout copies of our drivers license for our Navigo Cards. We bought our card packets at the RER station at CDG and quickly put together our passes. We also took the RER into Paris. Is the Roissy Bus definitely more convenient to your hotel? I used Rome2rio to figure out the best connections from CDG to our hotel.

Thank you all for the help! Our hotel is near the Ecole Militaire metro stop. If the train is easier and faster than the RoissyBus, we'll take it! Just going from what I understood Rick's guide to say. Any thoughts, knowing our closest Metro stop?
