I will be in Sarlat from Oct. 6-10, and while the Plaza Madeleine has parking available for a charge, I wonder if at that time of year it's necessary. Any thoughts appreciated!

My general rule is to find a parking lot right away, orient myself and go from there. As low budget as I travel, I prefer to just find a lot and get parked. I figure I save time looking for a spot and don't have to worry about a ticket or tow because I didn't see, or misunderstood, a sign. I was there in mid June. It was still early for the crowds but pretty busy and didn't seem like there were a lot of available parking spots.
