parking in Paris

Hi
We are spending the day in Paris with our daughter trying to decide where to park our rental car for the day since we wont need it. Any suggestions on some where reasonable where we can there use public transportation to get around.

On line it is somewhat confusing on where the lots are? We will be coming from the north and returning to CDG where we will drop her off for her flight home. We just want to show her around Paris and eat some dinner.

Thank You
Kathy

The only parking lots I saw were underground. I thought a parking lot entrance was for the nearby metro, otherwise I wouldn’t have even noticed.

We were on a tour and were in a bus to get from the boat dock to the Luxembourg gardens. It took nearly 2 hours to go a few miles.

Is it possible for you to park at a train station area on the outskirts of Paris and just take the RER or metro into town?

I'm not sure where you are coming from but there is parking at Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement. If you do a search for "Indigo Car Park Parc de la Villette," you should find it. You can also do a more general search for parking and Indigo and Paris to see if there are other Indigo locations in northern Paris that might suit your needs. What about parking at the airport at the beginning of the day and using the RER to get into Paris and back to CDG? That's what I would do if I could not do the entire day by train (mass transit).

I vote with JHK. When we have driven into Paris we have used underground parking. There are several, but driving in Paris is a royal pain. Park at the airport. You will save time and aggravation.

Park at the train station or CDG. Use the metro to get around. Parking is crazy.

There is plenty of parking in Paris. However, nothing is going to be reasonable. One option, if you are traveling into Paris on A1, would be the Rosa Parks lot at 2 Rue Gaston Tessier in the 19th. The Rosa Parks RER station is right there, take it to other locations in Paris. Their rates and other information is found here: https://parking-joparis2024.com/monindex.html

I would not leave my car anywhere other than in a monitored lot.

Make sure you have your Crit´air sticker.

If you're coming from the north, CDG is northeast of the city. I'm with the ppl who suggest dropping off the rental car and taking the RER into the city. An added bonus is you don't have to think about allowing time to return it prior to your flight or the Crit'air sticker.

Are you renting the car for the purpose of visiting Paris for the day, or is this a car you will already have rented for prior days? If the former, don't do it, use taxis, etc.

If the latter, when you take your daughter to drop her off at CDG, are you also flying onward and turning in the car rental, or are you going on your way with the rental car for more days? If you are dropping the rental at CDG, do it before going into Paris - you do not want to drive in and out of Paris, and parking is difficult and very expensive....if you plan to continue your trip with the rental, park at the airport for the day, use taxis, etc to go into Paris.

Thank you all for responding. We have the car until 1/2/25 so we probably will just leave it at our airport hotel and take the RER B into town to avoid all the hassels. I was hoping to get a parking closer to the city and take a bus or town afterwards but thanks to your advice will just leave it and go back and forth on public transportation. I love this site!
