Parking in Compiegne

Anyone been to to the Chateau in Compiegne lately? We will be looking for a handy parking spot there when we visit in July. The city website for parking is elaborate and complicated and does not seem oriented to tourists visiting the Chateau for many hours. Paying for parking in a deck would be okay, but I would rather not have to download an app to do so.

Thanks,

Chris

I was in Compiegne last summer, this time only to see and explore the centre ville. I went to the Chateau ages ago in 1999 as well as the site of the Armistice and all that and the small WW1 museum on the premises. I took the train in 2025 from Paris Nord , ie about time I went back.

There is parking very close to train station.

Assuming you’re referring to Château de Compiègne, there’s a lot right at it. One lot, across a street from it, appears to be free.

Nearby there is free parking at Parking Victor Hugo and Parking avenue Royale. You can look up parking lots n Google maps.

Think it’s already 6 years ago I have visited the château. Could easily park my car for free opposite the entrance. Compiègne is not a busy place and looking with google maps you can park your car within easy walking distance from the palace. It’s also charming and worth a stroll after visiting the château.

With a bit of luck you will have the whole château for yourself, unless you have the company of a school class of teenagers. The Glade of the Armistice as already noticed is certainly worth a visit, an interesting place of European history.

I had found that download but was a little confused about a time limit for parking in the free lots. We would probably spend much of the day at the chateau then go into town for the evening, so we could be in a parking lot for many hours.

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

According the map legend the free parking lots are in the white – stationnement gratuit – zone. Meaning to my idea free parking without time limit. To be sure you can always ask the staff at the welcome desk of the château. If there is an event going it will be ofcourse harder to find a free parking spot, but wasn’t the case during my visit. Good luck!
