We are traveling to Colmar for a few days in early December via car. Are there any free long-term parking options near the center of the city?

Not in the center of the city, but there is limited free parking on the outskirts. Use parkopedia.fr to find it. Input an arrival date at 9am and put a departure date the next day at 9am. Parking isn't controlled after 7pm until 9am the next day in many of the parking so if you are out for the day and return, you would have more possibilities assuming you can find a spot. Busy time of year, though.
The city center is off limits to vehicles when you are going on Saturday on Sunday. If you are there on Saturday and/or Sunday, park at the exhibition center and take the free shuttle into town.

A few years ago, the Vielle Ville parking lot was free. Check a current RS guide or a website to see if that is the case. Spaces would open up later in the day.
