Parking in Bayeux

We will be staying in Bayeux for 5 nights in the historical area of town and will have a rental car. There is no parking at our hotel. We were told there was a spot on the next street. I don’t want to spend time worrying about finding parking and the security of our rental car. Any insight into how to handle parking in Bayeux will be appreciated.

Parking in Bayeux is difficult because it’s metered. Even the parking lots are metered, and the meters have a 2-hour max.

When I was there, only one lot was free with no meters. It was on the edge beyond the cathedral, unsupervised and filled quickly in the morning. You may want to find a hotel with parking, or shuffle your car between the free lot early every morning and a metered space once the pay hours are finished in the evening.
We had a hotel with a parking lot outside town.

Hotel Churchill has parking and there ia a parking lot around the Corner from the hotel. The D Day tour pickup Point is also in front of the hotel Churchill.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. Take full insurance on the rental car, peel the little fuel sticker off the fuel cap (this gives away that it's a rental car), and then park up in the free lot and enjoy your stay. We have visited Bayeux and many other places in France and never had a problem with car parks. Just don't leave any valuables in the car.
