Does anyone have experience parking in the free lot "Parking des Italiens" in Avignon? We are staying in an Airbnb there next month, and that is the lot the host recommended. The place we are staying in is about an equal distance from the Italiens lot (free) and the Pope's Palace lot (not free). We would be leaving our car there overnight and driving around the region during the day. While I know there is no guarantee for safety anywhere (and we will not leave anything visible to take), I just wanted to get an idea if we should pay to have a little more peace of mind, or if the lots are equal safety-wise.

Is there someone on duty overnight at the "not free" car park? If not, you might as well use the no charge one.

I parked in the pay lot (garage) at Parking des Allées de l'Oulle last fall and don't remember any staff around. You paid the ticket machine before returning to the car.

We parked in the Pope's Palace one 3 days last year and never saw an attendant, and also never had a problem. There are so many people going in and out that we always felt secure.
