Parking at Toronto Pearson International for Flight to Paris

Hi All. Jean-Paul's excellent question about parking in Chicago triggered my inquiry. In June, I will be driving from Cleveland to Toronto (approx. 5 hours) for an evening flight from Toronto to CDG. I will be in France for 24 days (including travel days). Do you have recommendations for parking at the Toronto airport? I have also considered renting a car each way. I don't think I would need to stay overnight. On the way to France, the flight is in the evening. On the return trip, I may need to stay over, but would want to drive a couple hours before making that decision. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

There are several options for parking at YYZ. The best price will be the monthly rate and it ranges from about CAD $115 (Skyway Parking to $199 at Park N'Fly. Direct Parking is midpriced. I'm assuming you are flying Air Canada, there may be a promotion/discount with Aeroplan/Park N'Fly. We've used all providers at different times and they are more or less the same. Don't park at the airport, the parking may cost more than your ticket! Sometimes there are good packages at nearby hotels that include parking. Also, if you don't cross at a land border crossing often, make sure to allow a bit of extra time for inspection/immigration. Wait times can be unpredictable. Not sure if you are coming through Windsor but there is highway construction between Windsor and London which was slow a couple of weeks ago and its always busy between Niagara and Toronto. Both are easy drives but there is always traffic, especially if you are headed to the airport on a weekday. I'm not sure if you can rent a car one way, it is a one way rental that is being left in another country and we've had friends & family who have tried to do it without any luck.

Pearson is our home airport. We generally use the valet Park N Fly lot. Go to their website (now) to reserve a spot and get the lower rate (you'll need to print off the coupon). You should be able to get it for around $149.

Thank you, Daisy and CJean, for your very helpful and fast replies! Daisy, yes, I am flying Air Canada. Thanks for the reminder to leave extra time for the border crossing and for travel/construction delays. I am planning to take the route through Niagara and the trip is on a Friday. Looks like I can rent a car one way; but rates are, at a minimum, $143 each way, so that doesn't make sense. I think I'm going with the Park 'n Fly option that both of you mentioned - I will reserve it/print my coupon now. Thanks, again!

Hi Jennifer,
We always use Park'N Fly, too (although usually not the "valet" parking -- the cheaper one). You can get a discount if you print off your coupon online in advance (no pre-payment). You just plug in your dates and estimated times of parking duration (allow extra at both ends), and then print off the form. You use the barcode in the scanner when you leave to pay the amount that it shows on your sheet. We usually go for maybe 2.5 weeks, and it is almost always about $100.

Cheers,
Vivian

Hi Jennifer. I"m rather curious as to why you're driving all the way to Toronto to catch your flight. I also live in Cleveland (South Euclid specifically) and my fiance and I got excellent fares on Delta out of Hopkins to London and returning from Paris for late September/early October. When browsing fares I also saw good fares on Air Canada from Hopkins that connected in Toronto (just not good flight and connection times). I'd be afraid in your situation that the cost of parking your car for 24 days would easily eat up any fare savings you have.

Skypark is the cheapest we've found. In fact we just used it (back Thursday) and the service and price were great as always.

We are flying out of Detroit to Toronto to catch our flight to Paris. We've got friends/family dropping us off at DTW, so no parking issues. The flight to Toronto was cheaper then other options such as train, driving, leaving our car at DTW, flying out of Detroit etc.

Hi All- I apologize for my slow response. Re: parking at Toronto airport - thanks, again, for the fabulous suggestions! As I had noted, the Park 'N Fly option sounded great - 170 CAD (including tax) for 24 days. When Andrea mentioned SkyPark, I checked their rates - only 108 CAD (including tax) for 24 days! Right now, I have both reserved, but will probably use SkyPark.

Herronlaw, re: flying from Toronto, rather than Cleveland - perhaps it's the time of year? We are flying Toronto to CDG on June 9th and returning from Nice on July 2nd. I booked last July at just under $600 each. When I checked rates from Cleveland, Detroit, and Pittsburgh, they were generally in the $1,800-$2,000 range each. I have also checked rates for Cleveland to Toronto roundtrip (direct flights only) and always find them to be about $600. I also considered renting a car one way and flying back, but that was still around $300 each for the flight. I know several people who have done the drive to Toronto for overseas flights and thought it was reasonable. I can report back in July!

P.S. I'm on the west side, in Rocky River.
