Parisian cooking class

Will be in Paris for the month of July and am looking for a good recommendation for somewhere my husband and I might be able to take a French cooking class for a day . I should add our French language skills are not too strong. Any thoughts?

There is Cook 'n With Class in Montmartre. The classes are in English. They have a great class that takes about 6 hours and includes a trip to the market followed by a cooking class.

Ditto the high marks for Cookn with Class. My 2 teenage daughters and I took their "Morning Market Class" last spring and it was wonderful. They meet you in the a.m., you go shopping for your lunch ingredients, then go back to the classroom/kitchen and cook (and then eat) lunch. The class size is limited to 6 people, so it's very hands on, and very fun. They do the same class in the afternoon, and also have other specialty classes. All in English. They have a website that is very user friendly - you can see all of their classes and book on line.

I took two classes at Cook n with Class several years ago. Pastries and desserts. Loved it. Would recommend this school.

This sounds like fun! I'm checking the website.

Also, which class did you do? They are a bit pricey but I guess if you figure in the fact that it's your meal too, it isn't so bad. I wonder if you do the Morning Market Cooking class that you would be making lunch.......

I've taken four classes at La Cuisine Paris and I really enjoyed them all. I did a class on baguettes and other breads, one on brioche and baba au rhum, one just making Macarons, and one where we visited various specialty food shops and our guide purchased items for us to share back at the school - delicious! For all of my cooking classes, we each went home with a box of our goodies to enjoy later. They also have classes where you go to a market and get ingredients to prepare a meal, which, of course, you get to enjoy afterward. Everything is conducted in English and I thought the classes were excellent (and fun).

Hi Kathy - We did the "Morning Market Class" at Cook'n with Class, and yes, you make lunch. When we did it, we met at 9:30 a.m., went shopping, and figured out what we would buy/make, then were back at the classroom/kitchen probably about 11:30. Did a bunch of prep work, then broke for an aperitif (in our case, a "kir" and sausage and olives) then back to the kitchen where our instructor actually cooked the lunch up. Then we ate lunch - consisted of an appetizer, main course, cheese/bread course and dessert, with unlimited wine. We were done about 3:00 p.m. We ate so much that we didn't go out to dinner that night - we were still full from lunch. So, yes, a little pricey, but when you factor in the food, wine/drinks and basically a full day of entertainment, we thought it was well worth it.

I've done rhe dinner class at Cook'n with Class and the morning market class at La Cuisine Paris. The schools are very similar and I can recommend both.

I vote with Nancy for La Cuisine. I've taken 5 classes there over the past few years and enjoyed them all. My fave was Croissants. They are all taught in English and the instructors make each class interesting and fun, and the owners are wonderful!

Their prices are generally more reasonable than others.
