Susan haven't stayed at that one but have stayed in three other Parisbestlodge apartments, they really are what you see is what you get , clean, well supplied and Thierry is a joy to work with. Note bedrooms are small and there is no elevator , fourth floor may mean five flights of stairs .

Thank you Pat, really helpful. I've been exchanging emails with Thierry and it's on the American 4th (grateful it's not the 5th). Waiting for one more reply from Thierry, then we'll book it. Which of his apts did you stay in?

We have stayed in Studio Marazine , Bourg Tilbourg and the Esmeralda.

We liked the Esmeralda the best.. best location and best view. All were clean and well run however..

Theres no avoiding stairs it seems... even the buildings with elevators you end up doing a flight or two.. sigh.. ah that's Paris.

Don't get the 'stairs' comment. We have rarely had stairs in recent years because we don't book places without elevators. Plenty of places in Paris don't involve stairs. (although elevators can break down which is a different story) It just isn't true that stairs are inevitable.

Thanks Pat! I hear you about stairs... Worth it to me for the location and view. Plus, they'll help burn off croissant calories... lol.
Last apt we rented in Paris was 6 flights up and that was in the summer with 90 degree temps... so 4 is an improvement for us.

Susan, the apartments we have used most recently near Luxembourg Gardens were both on the ground floor. So no fantastic view, but easy on my elderly body.

Hi Susan...hear you are going to Paris:-) Happy Birthday!!

We loved our apartment in the 5th! It is on a pedestrian street, very quiet, birds singing in the courtyard, but restaurants all around and close enough to sites to walk. The owner was great, even ordered a taxi for us and had a manager meet us to make sure we got our taxi ok. He met us with keys and explained everything about the apartment. I even cancelled on him with our first reservation and he was very quick about giving us our deposit back. We really loved the location! It isn't ParisBestLodge, but worth looking at anyway.

Lauri, thanks! Ground floor would be nice but the apt we've chosen is a verrrry good price and perfect for us... so we're gonna go for it.

Yes, we heard and missed out being there to help you celebrate.

Sounds like you chose an apartment? The parisbestlodge has some beauties. Will you be staying there at the crazy view apartment? It looks super nice.

Of course, I must hear all your plans and get a trip report when you get back. Also want to see what you think of the apartment!

Janettravels.. well I have had exactly the opposite experience to you then.. even with an elevator it does not mean you will not encounter stairs.. often elevators are retro fitted into buildings and can start on the first floor up.. or end below the last floor( with a set of stairs up ).. this has been our experience in hotels.. and in the apartments we have rented. .and those that relatives live in..

I agree with both Pat and Janet on the elevator issue. I've certainly had hotels where there were no stairs needed; there was a flat entrance and the elevator went to my floor. I've also definitely had to go up stairs to reach the elevator (sometimes just a few, sometimes a whole flight or more). And in one of my Paris hotels, the retro-fitted elevator (placed in the middle of the staircase) went to the fifth floor, but I was staying on the sixth floor and had to climb that last flight (the mechanism was above the elevator and occupied the sixth floor space).

I have also stayed in a ParisBestLodge apartment, the Luxembourg, this past February.
Just wanted to say that Thierry is indeed great to rent from, and you will have no problems with this agency.
Enjoy your trip!
