Paris, wengen pontresina, lake Garda by rail

I am planning a trip from Paris to Wengen. I really want to take the Bernina Express over to Potresina. From there I want to go to Lake Garda. Any suggestions or changes? Will be flying out of Milan. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You might consider Lake Como instead of Lake Garda. It is on the rail line between Tirano (where the Bernina Express ends) and Milan. You could take the train from Pontresino to Varenna in 4-5 hours. Explore for a couple days, then continue by train to Milan.

What time of day and month?
The first Bernina Express leaves at around 8:28 and the 2nd at 13:34.
You won't make the 8:28 coming from Wengen.
We just use regular trains which are a lot more frequent that run on the same tracks as the Bernina Express.
It is a long ride from Wengen to Chur where the Bernina Express originates.
It will go something like this
Wengen to Lauterbrunnen
Change
Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken
Change
Interlaken to Zurich
Change
Zurich to Chur
Change
Chur to Pontersina.
Then
Pontersina to Tirano
Change
Tirano to Milan
Change
Milan to Desenzano del Garda (stop for Lake Garda)
