Paris Walks walking tours

We will be in Paris at the end of September for a week, and are looking forward to enjoying a couple of the Paris Walks walking tours. I've done some research on this company on both TA and Rick Steves website, but would be interested in your comments on your enjoyment of them, whether certain days, or routes, were busier than others, etc. We're interested in everything, so all of the offerings will be of interest to us.

I've done 3 Paris Walks (Montmartre, the 2 islands, and Hemingway) and thoroughly enjoyed every one.
I don't think that there is any way to judge which are more popular on any one day. One of my walks had 8 people and another had about 30. (This was in May/June.)
I had three different guides and all were good. They all were able to adjust their voices to the size of the crowd.
I'm looking forward to more walks with them in the future.

My experience has been like SharYn's. I did 2 last April/May and enjoyed them both. I actually wound up with the same guide, Brad, lol and he was excellent. I did the one about Jefferson and Franklin in Paris and Paris during the Occupation. Both were extremely interesting.

I have several more planned for my return visit the end of September! I want to do one of the ones with Hemingway sites as well as another one with Paris and WWII. I would cheerfully go on the same one I did in April - it was that good.

Not to bore you, but we too had good experiences with Paris Walks. Our first was Montmartre, and perhaps our best. They're well paced, reasonably priced, very convenient, and the guides know a lot. I think we've taken four over several trips.

I have never used Paris Walks, but have used Paris Greeters, which is a free service. They use volunteers who give walking tours geared to one's interests. I did a 3 hour tour through the Marais with a very knowledgeable English-speaking guide. You book online, indicating your interests and are matched to a guide who contacts you with a proposal and meeting place. The organization accepts donations when you book (I gave 10€). The guides do not accept tips, but appreciate a coffee or glass of wine.

Hi; I've taken a couple of Paris Walks too, and they were both great.
The guides were very knowledgeable and approachable. Well worth it.

We have taken about a dozen of their walks during our trips and the number of participants varies. If there are any specialty ones that require reservations in advance, they have a limit on how many people can participate. We have done the Chocolate Walk and Les Miserables that were reservation required. Some of our favorites were Les Halles, St. Germain, Writers of the Left Bank, The Impressionists and Hemingway in Paris. We have always found their guides to be knowledgeable and interesting on their walk topics plus great resources for local dining and other activities. You should enjoy any of the walks you take with them.

Just to add an update, we took two of these walking tours. Marias 1 and St Germaine-des-Pres. they both were great. Wonderful guides who were a joy to listen to. There were about 20 people on either of the tours. We're still talking about how much they added to our enjoyment of Paris.

I’m glad you enjoyed them Susan. I’ve done 4 over the last week and agree they and the guides add so much to the Paris experience!

I respect Paris Walks but caution that the WW2 Liberation itinerary has a limited scope. The "liberation" was more like guerrilla street actions rather than a pitched battle, followed by a flamboyant victory parade. There are fewer dramatic sights than you might expect -- traces of machine gun bullets on a couple of buildings, some memorial plaques, and so on. Still interesting, but since I know a lot of the background, not red-hot exciting.
