Paris Greeter Walk etiquette

We have heard wonderful things about Paris Greeters and have scheduled a walk with volunteer. I made a donation on the website when I sent our original request. However, I have a question about etiquette on the day of our walk. Do we offer our guide a tip? Bring a small present from the states to offer her? I would appreciate hearing about others' experiences.

Thank you.

Are you referring to this "Paris Walks"? If so, no tipping involved. They collect the fee from you when the walk starts. And they're paid, not volunteers. And the website doesn't mention donations. It's a business.

Maybe you're referring to Paris Greeters. I don't have experience with them, but I don't think they're looking for tips or presents. A cup of coffee or glass of wine would be a nice gesture, though.

Dick's right- you pay for Paris Walks, so I think you must be thinking about the Paris Greeters program??

I've seen some city greeter websites that say they have a no-tipping policy. The greeters are residents who love their city and volunteer to share it with visitors. They are not looking for remuneration. Offer to buy her/him a drink and/or snack. A small item that is a souvenir from your home town (magnet, pin, etc) is a nice additional touch.

Sorry! You are absolutely right. I am referring to the Paris Greeter group. I apologize for the confusion. I will edit my original post.

Thanks for the comments.
