Paris Trip Update & Train Info

Hello!
We are currently in France. This forum was so helpful to me in our planning (& while here! Especially Ashley MIA!!!) so I wanted to share our experience.
First, I'll start by saying - I do not feel the strike is ANY reason to delay or cancel a trip to Paris. There are plenty of options you just have to be smart and aware and with a little planning ahead (just like any trip abroad!)
We arrived in Paris on Christmas day, took 25 minutes from deboarding plane to getting in Taxi. No line at passport control, no line for taxi (could be bc of holiday but airport was very crowded.)
Taxi took 30 minutes to hotel in the 9th.
Walked all around that day no issue- beautiful! Took an uber xmas night to St Eustache - 5 minute wait and 7 euro.
Our train the next morning to Strasbourg was cancelled however with Ashley's help we just switched our plans a tad - enjoyed Paris that morning and took 3pm train to Strasbourg. Note - we had booked an Ice train. No issue getting on later ice train. In fact no one at any point looked at our tickets. Many people were in line exchanging tickets and the staff seemed to be trying to help with whatever was available. Lots of scnf staff available to help.
Our way to Gare de l'Est our taxi ran into a protest group - traffic stopped and we simply hopped out and walked remaining 5-10 minutes. The taxi driver was so kind and said no charge (he felt so bad that we would miss our train - but we had left with plenty of time to spare). We of course tipped him generously.
This was our first time on Ice trains and they are very nice! Will choose again when possible.

We took TER train from Strasbourg to Colmar- a few of the usual 2 trains/hour were cancelled but still plenty of options and room on trains. We took Uber 2x in Strasbourg- no issue & normal pricing. The walk from train station to Cathedrale square is very easy and enjoyable.

We are heading back to Paris today on Ice train - original train scheduled- scnf did scan tickets on the platform this morning.

Plan to take an uber from Gare de l'est to hotel in 6th when we arrive later this morning.

Looking forward to a few sunny days in Paris! Even more reason to enjoy the walking

Thank you to everyone who posted their advice/info!

Thanks for the on-the-ground information!

Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip, even with the cancellations you've encountered. So much is about attitude, and you definitely have the right attitude! Enjoy your sunny Paris days - have you tried the vin chaud yet? (mulled wine) In the past they've had a stand in the Luxembourg Gardens, and it was so memorable drinking vin chaud while walking around the beautiful garden.
