Just day before yesterday I finished a 2-week Road Scholar tour of SW France with guide Laurent Gauriglia. He was knowledgeable, personable and fun, lol. I’m going to try to set up a couple of day or half day tours in the Paris area next year when I come to France. I have NO idea what his rates are. In spite of his Italian name, he’s a native Parisian.

Our first morning in Bordeaux he did an excellent lecture on Aliénor d’Aquitaine. He apologized to the group saying he’d been asked last minute to pick up this tour and didn’t feel he’d thoroughly researched her life. My thought was if this was his level of an unpolished presentation, I cannot imagine what else he’d add!! He’d mentioned that the only item that is actually known to have been owned by her is a rock crystal vase located in the Louvre. He is able to guide there and I spent a looong time in there this morning trying to locate the dang thing, lol. Would have been much easier if I’d had him leading me! (Room 502 Level 1 Richelieu Wing)
