Paris to Rocamadour

My wife and I would like to spend a week in Rocamadour.
We are traveling by train. How does one go from Paris to
Rocamadour by train (if possible). I thought I read that there
is a nearby train station,. Thank you for your advice.

Going to the Lot or Dordogne without a car is a very bad idea in my opinion. But the worst idea is to want to spend a week in Rocamadour. Rocamadour is a village of a few hundred inhabitants that lives only from tourists who come by the hundreds every day on organized trips and who leave after a few hours of visiting the site.

A: Take the train from Gare d'Austerlitz to Rocamadour-Padirac station. You can find fares, schedules, etc. at sncf-connect.com or trainline.com. Then take a taxi or more likely walk or take a bus (if there is one) to town

The Rocamadour-Padirac train station is about 2.5 miles from the village. I think there is a bus stop a bit closer, but it is by no means close to the village. Using the bus requires a walk along a rural highway with no paved shoulders. It is not safe. It is a totally impractical base without a car aside from any other considerations.

I agree with JoLui that Rocamadour is worth only a few hours. The religious buildings may be very interesting; I didn't have time to see them in 2019 because the scary walk along the highway took so long. The historic street at the bottom of the town was a very unattractive strip of tourist-junk shops and cafes.
