Sam, when we return back to Paris, we need to catch a train to Germany the next morning departing around 6am, can we depart from Rennes via of train to Gare de Nord rather then Montparnasse? I want a hotel close to Gare de Nord Train Station.

You can get from Gare Montparnasse to Gare du Nord via the No 4 Metro line.

Hi Clinton,
no you don't have any choice, Gare Montparnasse is the only station for the Rennes-Paris line. But it's easy to go from Gare Montparnasse to Gare du Nord.

FYI, trains to Germany leave from Gare de l'Est, not Gare du Nord. From Montparnasse, take the number 4 metro and get off at Gare de l'Est. Gare du Nord is the next station.

If he's heading for Koeln, the Thalys leaves from Gare du Nord.

Yes, Koeln is from Gare du Nord. Gare de l'Est is for the Southern parts of Germany - Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bavaria.
