Paris to Reims Train Question

Bonjour fellow French enthusiast!!

I am hoping someone can help me with what should be a fairly simple train ticket booking.

My wife and I will be traveling from Paris to Reims on Friday, March 31st. We would like to leave Gare' L'Est around 10:30 am.

Problem is there looks to be only one train leaving that day at 2:36 pm according to the SNCF website.

It seems strange that there would not be more frequent train service to this fairly popular city.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this schedule.

Merci beaucoup in advance for your help.

The Trainline App says there’s a TER train leaving March 31 at 7:36am, then TGV trains leaving at 8:38 and 10:28, and another TER departing at 10:36. The next train after that, a TGV, leaves at 12:58.

at 10:28 there is a TGV, TGV 2719, which goes direct, nonstop to Reims station arriving 46 minutes later at its final destination of Reims at 11:14. Would it meet your needs?

Be aware that most TGVs head to Strasbourg and don't stop in Reims, they stop outside of town at Reims Champagne Ardennes the nearby TGV station.

The next train is the 12:23 TGV to Nancy. Get off at Champagne Ardennes at 13:03, easy 6 minute connection onto the TER waiting for you (it starts there) which goes to Sedan (famous in WW-I) and the first stop is Reims in 12 minutes at 13:21.

Merci all.

I believe the problem is that I am trying to book these tickets too far in advance.
It appears the TGV line works on a 2 month prior booking window. Even though the schedules are showing the ability to purchase tickets at this time is limited.

Thanks again for everyone's input.

Safe travels!!

you can definitely get a TGV to central Reims and that is what you want. From there it is an easy tram ride to the Cathedral and Champagne houses and a not terrible walk.

When you try to book to early on the SNCF website you get offered the possibility to be alerted when booking opens. You should do that. Than just wait till you get the email telling you that more trains are open to booking.

There are plenty of direct TGV to Reims, and booked early they are very good value. Certainly makes a daytrip to Reims possible.
